Diversity in the Depo Services Industry
March 15 , 2019

One aspect of the deposition services and legal industry that is becoming more and more of interest is a commitment to diversity. Why? Aside from the obvious fact that it’s only fair, it shows a concern for our fellows and an interest in improving conditions in our environment. Companies and teams benefit from the talents and varying perspectives of a range of backgrounds and experience.

Because we support a commitment to diversity, we’ve included a few tips to help you.

1.    Promote any diversity awards you receive via a press release that you can post on your website.

2.    Stay connected with outlets that cover legal industry diversity, such as Minority Corporate Counsel Association or Minority Business News.

3.    If you have a diversity section on your website, make sure that it is easy to find. Prospective clients and employees who want to know about your diversity initiatives want to easily access that information without having to search for it.  An example is our diversity statement here.

4.    Get connected with an organization that can help with your diversity goals, such as Diversity Lab or the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession.

5.    Always communicate your good work through any and all outlets. Share it on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and your blog. Don’t be afraid to brag a little bit. Not only will people enjoy it, but you may inspire others to do the same.

Our company is a member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S., and the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), a nonprofit trade association comprised of minority- and women-owned law firms throughout the U.S.

At Atkinson-Baker, we value and benefit from diversity and inclusion. We hope our tips can help you do the same.
